JOB PURPOSE

·Lead the shift in achieving excellence in health and safety, product quality, asset performance and employee engagement

·Manage all workforce on designated shift

·Strive to reduce waste and increase productivity across all lines

·Provide motivation, support and guidance to all employees

·Communicate any problems or obstacles to senior management

·Manage all breaks and ensure all machines are covered at all times

·Manage shift holidays

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Responsible for the Health & Safety of all employees working on your shift

Ensure the workforce understand and are compliant with company safety policies and procedures. Ensure all daily/hourly check sheets are completed and the daily report is filled in with as detail of the day’s events across all lines. Provide a safe working environment by conducting risk assessments, manual handling assessments and COSHH evaluations. 

To manage the manufacturing activities in the plants, ensuring optimum performance of all available resources including people, plant and processes

Establish operational KPI’s for your team and ensure that these are delivered through utilising employee practices including performance management processes and employee development together with improvement to plant processes and efficiencies to deliver product of the right quality

In conjunction with fellow Production Managers design and implement Standard Operating Procedures to ensure all production lines achieve uniformed optimum performance measures including Overall Equipment Efficiency and availability to meet business KPI’s ensure all daily/hourly check sheets are completed and the daily report is filled in with as detail of the day’s events across all lines

NATURE AND SCOPE 

The main focus of the production manager is to oversee this fast paced manufacturing process. In addition managing and reporting various operational targets, optimising working practices and identifying and implementing all training requirements to the operations manager.

This position requires a good level of management skills to liaise with other managers on a daily basis, to meet a multitude of targets – QSHE, production, process developments.

ESSENTIAL
  • Experience within the manufacturing environment
  • GCSE Maths
  • GCSE English
  • Experience of line management across a multi-functional team
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Working with targets
  • Numeracy and ability to understand numerical data
  • Knowledge of existing and impending environmental and health and safety legislation
  • Display ‘Be Safe’ attitude and behaviours
  • Ability to work as a team and on own initiative
  • Articulate, confident and assertive
  • Good standard of verbal reasoning skills
  • Analytical and able to quickly assess issues and recommend and/or implement solutions
  • Robust and resilient, able to absorb pressure and respond positively
  • Solid pragmatic approach to delivering to tight deadlines and targets
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and on own initiative
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise
  • Willingness to adapt and develop skill-sets and knowledge as determined by post / business
 
This role will include a three month probationary period. In addition, the shifts will be twelve hours long, including a mixture of days and nights and it will be four days on and four days off.
