Fundraising Team Manager
Ensure that the hospice's care has the financial resources to deliver its mission.The Fundraising Manager will play an instrumental role ensuring that our fundraising strategies and practice exceed this ambition/goal.
Develop the solid infrastructure upon which fundraising is built upon.This will include developing a fundraising strategy aligned with the Hospices Cares organisational strategy, developing and maintaining a donor management system, driving income across a number of fundraising streams, establishing systematic donor communications and creating systems to plan and monitor the effectiveness of our fundraising activity and budget.
·Oversee the delivery of annual income and expenditure budgets of the various fundraising streams, manage a delegated budget, through the maintenance of effective resource management of people, stock, products, equipment, cash receipts and floats.Report any variances to expected expenditure and resource usage.
·Take forward and develop an organisation-wide fundraising strategy and work plans including tactics for raising unrestricted income including the development of different fundraising streams (Corporate, Trusts, Events, Direct Marketing, Legacies, and Membership) to a high level.
·Day to day line management/supervision of staff and volunteers within the team including recruitment, selection, on-boarding, appraisal and performance assessments, sickness and absence monitoring, first line disciplinary issues and workplace assessments, also to identify training needs of staff and ensure these needs are met, where applicable.
·Attract and retain donors including mass giving, corporate supporters, and faith communities – this will involve presenting to target donors as well as planning and accompanying visits and developing accurate donor records and databases.
·Work with the Service Departments to ensure a steady flow of projects that can be packaged for all the fundraising audiences.Develop fundraising proposals and application statistics.
·Deliver compelling presentations on all aspects of fundraising at a senior level to internal and external audiences, and conduct high-level negotiations in order to secure key outcomes and leverage strategic relationships for fundraising purposes.
·Develop and deepen existing donor relationships, ensuring that the organisation maintains effective communications and good relations with our donor partners, ensuring they are updated on our work and achievements.
·Work with the team to identify and research potential funding opportunities, ensuring the funding, awareness and volunteering value of each partnership is realised and where appropriate, secure renewals and scale-up existing partnerships.
·On-board and where appropriate, train, new employees or less experienced staff in accordance with the departmental need, ensuring all staff are competent and confident in their duties and understand relevant systems.
·Maintain personal and professional competencies and development keeping up to date with developments and best practice in charity and fundraising sector. Make changes to own practice where required and offer suggestions for improving services where appropriate.
·Implement policies and procedures in own area and propose changes as necessary.
·Deputise for your line manager when necessary and provide cover for, and complement the work of, other staff in your team.
Degree in Fundraising, Communications, Marketing Business or other related field or relevant proven experience.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience working in fundraising with a minimum of 5 at management level.
Relevant qualification in Fundraising or equivalent in depth experience.
Skills and Experience
A proven track record of delivering success and raising funds from a portfolio of sources including Corporate; Trusts; Events; Direct Marketing; Community; Legacies.
Proven experience of delivering fundraising best practice
Demonstrable experience of managing a team of fundraisers of varying disciplines.
Managing performance in line with budgets.
Demonstrable success in securing fundraising partnerships and support
Advanced skills in IT systems and software programme such as Outlook 365/Skype, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Photoshop Illustrator and databases.
Understanding of confidentiality and the Data Protection Act (GDPR).
Experience of working with external agencies
Experience of conflict resolution and attaining favourable outcomes.
Self-motivator and able to work alone as well as a team player, adaptable and able to learn quickly. Able to plan, organise, coordinate, motivate and lead staff to ensure joint projects meet deadlines and manage change.
A clear engaging and efficient communicator, with excellent verbal and written and presentation skills, capable of producing engaging copy and content for a variety of audiences.
Ability to produce, present and explain complex information in engaging manner.
Adept at people management, building long term relationships with potential donors or volunteers
Ability to contribute at a strategic level in both management and trustee meetings and confidence to work with stakeholders.
Understanding of fundraising techniques and a genuine desire to innovate
Strong networking, relationship building and diplomacy skills
Impeccable organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure in a busy working environment and able to multi task.
Experience of managing CRM and excellent financial forecasting and reporting skills.

Ability to develop and apply creative and pragmatic solutions to day-to-day challenges.

Full driving licence, own car and able to meet the travel requirements of the role which is based across two sites.
